New Garden Monthly Meeting was established in 1718 by Chester [Concord] Quarterly Meeting out of Newark [Kennett] Monthly Meeting. It was transferred to Western Quarterly Meeting in 1758. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, the monthly meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches.
